It is very common practice in India to massage (popularly called ‘Tel Malish’ in India) new born and babies with beneficial oils daily, hoping massage will help in building stronger bones, muscles, and a healthier life. It actually helps in the growth and overall development of baby bodies. Besides, it also helps baby get sound sleep and remain cheerful and fresh.

Coconut

Easily available and comparatively cheaper than other oils, Coconut is the most used oil for baby massage in India. It is considered as the finest option and widely used in Southern India. It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties which help to prevent skin infections. 

Almond 
 
Almond or Badam Tel as popularly known in India contains vitamin E in higher percentage as compared to coconut. Almond oil is most preferred by many for it ensures glowing and soft skin. 

Mustard

Mustard oil is used by many people in Eastern and Northern parts of India to massage their babies. It is popular during winters and is believed to be good for hair as well as it prevents skin infections. 

Pure Ghee 
 
Pure ghee is also used for massaging though not in very large scale. It protects from cold hence used especially during winters. 

Olive

Mainly used in Western countries, it is now available in India too for massaging babies.
